About Food Banks

Food Banks are there to share food with deprived people, food that otherwise would have been destroyed. Food Banks are specialists in bringing food from places where it is in surplus to places where there is need.

About the Estonian Food Bank

The Food Bank in Tallinn, is the first one in Estonia and it follows examples in other European countries. It is established on 11 March 2010 by the Estonian-Netherlands Charity Foundation and Swedbank. They provide financial support for initial expenses and investments to establish the Food Bank organisation in Estonia.

The Food Bank in Tallinn operates as an independent organisation, with a small staff and a group of volunteers. It is supervised by an Expert Committee.
